What is the Insurance Industry Doing About Climate Change?

With the winter season slowly approaching, reports of floods and hailstorms are coming from various parts of the world. This summer also saw record-breaking temperatures. So, what are we doing as the insurance industry to raise awareness about climate change?

Axa Sigorta’s Pioneering Role Erhan Navruz, Editor-in-Chief of Sigorta Haber, drew attention to the current situation of the industry regarding climate change. Navruz pointed out that even when climate change was not being discussed in Turkey, Axa Sigorta’s CEO, Yavuz Ölken, had been raising awareness through TV programs and various organizations. He emphasized that Ölken is still actively highlighting this issue. However, Navruz also noted that other companies in the insurance sector have not taken sufficient action on climate change.

The Importance of TSB’s Leadership Erhan Navruz stated that addressing climate change under the leadership of the Insurance Association of Turkey (TSB) has now become essential. He mentioned a lack of awareness and action in this area across the industry and stressed the need to be better prepared for potential future risks.
